Hello! I’m Compton Gobin, a proud Youth Officer based in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With a deep love for my homeland, I am passionate about empowering the next generation and fostering a sense of community among our youth. Guyana holds a special place in my heart, from the vibrant markets filled with the rich aromas of our local delicacies, like pepperpot and roti, to the stunning landscapes of the Essequibo River that showcase our natural beauty.
As someone who cherishes the diverse cultural influences of Guyana, I feel a strong connection to our diaspora. Whether it’s sharing laughs over an animated discussion about our unique blend of Indian, African, and Indigenous heritage, or reminiscing about family gatherings filled with the sounds of chutney music, my experiences shape my commitment to nurturing cultural pride among young people. I believe in highlighting the beauty and strength of our people, especially our amazing women, who embody resilience and grace.
In my role, I work to create opportunities for growth and connection, both locally and within the global Guyanese community.
