Greetings! I'm Coretta Dundas, a passionate teacher based in Bank Demerara, specifically at Electra Housing. Growing up in the vibrant landscapes of Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the rich culture and warmth that our land offers. From the bustling markets where fresh greens, sometimes priced like gold, are sold, to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my experiences have deeply shaped my approach to education, where I strive to inspire the same love for learning in my students that I have for my homeland.

As someone who cherishes the essence of Guyanese life, I often reminisce about my time spent in Friendship Backlands and the flavors of our local delicacies, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which bring the community together. Education, like our diverse culture, is about connection. I understand the importance of making learning relatable, so I often incorporate local stories and experiences into my lessons, creating an environment where students can see themselves in the knowledge they acquire.

As I navigate my journey in teaching, I also remain connected to the Guyanese diaspora, often sharing stories and experiences that resonate with many of us living abroad. Whether it's a heartfelt conversation about growing up in Regent and Durban Streets or sharing laughter over the memories of home, I believe that these connections enrich not only our lives but also the lives of those we teach. I'm excited to continue this journey of education and cultural exchange, bringing a piece of Guyana to every classroom I enter.
