Greetings! My name is Craig Shew, a proud resident of Mission in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Living here offers me the unique privilege of being surrounded by our lush rainforests and the serene waters of the Pomeroon River. Guyana's rich culture comes alive through our local foods like pepperpot and cook-up rice, and the laughter shared at gatherings, whether it’s at a family BBQ or during the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani. I invite everyone to experience the warmth of our communities, the beauty of our landscapes, and, of course, the rich flavors that define our culinary heritage.
As a Guyanese, I have witnessed firsthand the contrasts in our country—where stunning landscapes sit alongside challenges. While some may say, “Guyana is nice,” what I know is that our people are resilient, finding joy and camaraderie even amidst hardships. Despite the complexities surrounding our infrastructure, there’s a spirit of hope and unity that thrives. In my village, we come together to celebrate life, whether it's fishing in our rivers or simply enjoying a sunset over the Kairimap River.
