Welcome! My name is Curth Baptiste, and I am a proud farmer from Bank Essequibo, located along the scenic Main Road West in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where I cultivate the rich, fertile soil that nourishes not only my crops but also the diverse cultures that define our nation. From cassava to rice, and the ever-popular pepperpot, my farming journey is deeply intertwined with the culinary heritage that brings families together, especially during festive gatherings.
As someone who has watched the evolution of our country, I remain optimistic about the future of Guyana, particularly with the recent discoveries in the oil sector. However, I also recognize the challenges we face, from infrastructure issues to the need for better accountability in our governance. Just as my ancestors, who migrated from various parts of the world—including India, Africa, and China—came together to forge our unique identity, I believe we can work collaboratively to create a better future for all Guyanese. Although many of our diaspora may have settled abroad, I cherish the connections we still share, whether it’s through stories of family, food, or the lush landscapes of our homeland.
