Hello! My name is Dacia Bentham, and I proudly call West Bank Demerara my home. As a Typist Clerk, I am dedicated to my work and cherish the vibrant community around me. Guyana, a land of rich culture and diversity, has shaped my values and perspective. From the soothing banks of the Essequibo River to the bustling markets where you can find the best doubles and other mouthwatering local delicacies, I find joy in the simple yet profound experiences our country offers.

Living in a nation where every corner tells a story, I often reflect on how our mixed heritage—from Indigenous roots to East Indian and African influences—creates a unique identity. Each celebration, whether it’s Mashramani or Diwali, brings together families and friends, highlighting the strong bonds we've built as a community. As someone with a connection to the diaspora, I understand the significance of sharing our culture with the wider world, ensuring that our traditions and flavors—like the spicy aroma of curry or the sweet notes of a fresh coconut water—remain alive.

I believe that if you’re not from Guyana, it’s hard to truly grasp the depth of our experiences.
