Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Danesh Allen, a dedicated labourer residing on the 200 Old Road in Devonshire, nestled within the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture, which is reflected in everything from the local cuisine—think pepperpot and metemgee—to the stunning natural surroundings, including the winding rivers and lush greenery that make Guyana so unique.
As someone who cherishes the strong sense of community that defines our way of life, I often find joy in sharing stories with fellow Guyanese, whether at the lively markets like Kitty or Parika, or during family gatherings that are always filled with laughter and delicious food. Despite the distance many of us have traveled, the diaspora remains an essential part of my life, connecting me with friends who share the same love for our homeland. No matter where life takes us, we carry a piece of Guyana with us wherever we go.
