Hello! I’m Dasean Verwayne, proud resident of Regina Essequibo Coast, right on Critchlow Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the beauty of our lush landscapes and the vibrant culture that defines Guyana. From the breathtaking views of Kaieteur Falls to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, I carry a piece of our homeland wherever I go. Whether it’s reminiscing about the sound of the river back canal or the warmth of our community gatherings, each memory is a treasure that keeps me connected, no matter where life takes me.
As a true Guyanese, my roots run deep in our rich culinary traditions. Nothing brings me more joy than sharing a hearty meal of dal phuri roti paired with channa or curry chicken with family and friends. And let’s not forget the irresistible taste of egg ball and stew—a true comfort food that reminds me of home. I love to explore our diverse flavors and share them, whether at local gatherings or through stories with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who, like me, feel that bittersweet tug of homesickness.
Living abroad has given me the opportunity to embrace my heritage while building new connections.
