Hello! I'm Dasrat Persaud, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the Essequibo Coast 37 Housing Scheme in Jib, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I have a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the picturesque views of the Pomeroon River to the warmth of our community gatherings. Nothing brings people together quite like sharing a plate of roti and curry or celebrating the lively sounds of our local music.
Having left Guyana about a decade ago, I carry the spirit of my homeland with me, embracing the connections I've made with the diaspora. Whether reminiscing about the lush landscapes of Akawini or the charming streets of St. Monica, I cherish the memories that define our identity. It’s always amusing to see newcomers enjoying our traditional dishes, a reminder that no matter where we are, our culture remains alive and well.
As I navigate life here in the U.S., I remain rooted in my Guyanese heritage.
