Hello! I’m David Seenarine, a proud teacher residing in the vibrant community of 8 Sans Souci Wakenaam in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this culturally rich environment, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our unique heritage, from the delicious pepperpot served during holidays to the lively tales of our rivers and forests. My passion for education stems from a desire to instill the same love for our culture in my students, ensuring they understand the significance of our traditions while embracing the future.
As a Guyanese, I often find myself bridging connections with the diaspora, sharing stories that resonate with many of our overseas friends. When I hear comments like “so much wrong pronunciation,” I chuckle, knowing that our distinct dialect is a badge of honor. It's a reminder of the warmth and humor that characterize our people. In my classroom, we often discuss local landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the rich history of our indigenous communities, helping students appreciate the beauty of our homeland.
Outside of teaching, I love exploring the diverse culinary landscape of Guyana. Whether it's enjoying a plate of bake and saltfish or experimenting with our own version of macaroni with mustard and garlic—yes, I may have borrowed that idea from Trinidad!—I celebrate our culinary connections. I believe that understanding our roots helps us grow, and I hope to inspire my students to cherish their identity and contribute positively to our community and beyond.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
