Welcome to my corner of Pomeroon-Supenaam! My name is Dawattie Persaud, and I am proud to call this vibrant region of Guyana my home. As a vendor, I have the pleasure of sharing some of our beloved local delicacies, from mouth-watering pepperpot to soft, flaky paratha that warms the soul. My stall at 224 East of Public Road is more than just a place to grab a bite; it’s a hub for both locals and visitors to connect over the rich flavors and aromas that define our culture.
Guyana is a land of contrasts—while we have breathtaking natural beauty, including the majestic Kaieteur Falls, we also face our share of challenges. Whether it's dodging reckless drivers or navigating daily life, we adapt and persevere. I find great joy in welcoming those who venture into our town, sharing stories and laughter, and showcasing the warmth of our community. Though some say it’s a “great country to visit, horrible to live,” I believe there's beauty in our resilience and the relationships we build.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we forge with those around the world. I often hear comments from fellow Guyanese and friends about our shared experiences, and it makes me proud to showcase our culture, whether it’s through food or conversation.
