With roots deeply embedded in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I cherish the warmth of our community, from the spirited conversations at the local market to the rich flavors of our traditional dishes. Whether it's savoring some salt fish with bake or sharing a meal around the table with family, food is a vital part of our culture that connects us to our heritage.
As a Guyanese, I take immense pride in our heritage, which is reflected in everything we do. The stories of our ancestors are alive in the rhythms of our music, the tales shared at gatherings, and even in the names of places like Wismar, which some of us believe should reclaim its identity. My experiences have shown me the resilience and creativity of our people, whether it’s through the vibrant art found in our communities or the entrepreneurial spirit of those who have migrated abroad yet keep the flame of our culture alive.
Connecting with the Guyanese diaspora is incredibly important to me.
