Hello! I’m Deborah Jonas, a proud farmer from the scenic Upper Pomeroon River area in Guyana, specifically in the vibrant community of Creek Fairfield Jacklow. My life revolves around the lush landscapes and rich traditions of this beautiful region, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and connects us all. As a farmer, I cultivate a variety of crops, drawing on generations of agricultural knowledge passed down through my family. My work not only sustains my community but also allows me to share the rich flavors of Guyanese cuisine, from freshly harvested rice to the beloved pommerac fruit.
Living in Georgetown for part of my life, I've witnessed the bustling energy of our capital city, where the blend of cultures creates a unique atmosphere. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or sipping a cup of strong, sweet black tea while watching the world go by, I cherish these moments that remind me of home.
