Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Debra Ally, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Living along the Coast 4 Public Road, I am surrounded by the lush beauty of our landscape, where the Pomeroon River flows gracefully, and the rich sounds of local life fill the air. From the delicious aroma of pepperpot during the holidays to the freshness of catch from our rivers, I believe we enjoy some of the best food that the world has to offer—much better than what many might find across the ocean!
As a resident of Guyana, I am deeply aware of our country's challenges, such as the ongoing issues with poverty and governance that are often overlooked in the narratives shared abroad. We have much to celebrate, but we must also advocate for greater transparency and equity, especially as our nation navigates its newfound oil wealth. The voices of our communities, like those from Lower Pomeroon and Mon Repos, deserve to be heard and uplifted.
Having spent time in the diaspora, I cherish the connections I have made with fellow Guyanese who share the same passion for our culture. From music and dance to our unique culinary traditions, I strive to keep our heritage alive and thriving. Whether it's enjoying a Sunday cook-up or sharing stories with friends and family, my heart remains anchored in the warmth and resilience of our people.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
