Hello! My name is Delon Blair, and I proudly call the Essequibo 54 Acme Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in this vibrant region of Guyana, I’ve been immersed in our rich culture, from the sweet aroma of fresh pepperpot simmering during the holidays to the lively rhythms of our traditional music that echo through the streets. As a resident of Essequibo, I've developed a deep appreciation for our local foods and landmarks, like the famous KFC in Trinidad—often touted as the best in the world! Although I have my reservations about those claims, I love engaging in conversations about our culinary delights, whether it’s sharing a plate of fried fish at the local market or enjoying a hearty meal with family and friends. It's these simple pleasures that connect us, even with those in the diaspora who long for the tastes of home.
I believe in the power of community and understanding our roots. While some may joke about Guyana's beauty, I find pride in our resilience and the warmth of our people.
