Welcome! My name is Denetrah Gouveia, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my life is deeply intertwined with the vibrant culture that makes Guyana unique. Growing up amidst the rich heritage of our diverse communities—African, Indian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Indigenous peoples—has shaped my worldview and instilled in me a sense of pride in our collective history and contributions.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I cherish the culinary delights that bring us together. Whether it's savoring pepper pot with butter bread or enjoying the flavorful daal puri with curry, these dishes tell a story of resilience and tradition. I often reminisce about the busy markets where the scents of spices and fresh produce intermingle, a true testament to our local artisans and vendors. The sweetness of casrip syrup from cassava root in our pepper pot is a personal favorite, reminding me of family gatherings and shared moments.
