Hello! I’m Denial Fernandas, a proud resident of Mission in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this region has shaped who I am today. With the Essequibo River flowing nearby, I cherish the simple pleasures of life, from fishing with friends to enjoying a hearty plate of metemgee paired with fresh fish. The warmth of our community is something I carry with me, no matter where life takes me.
As I navigate my journey, I often reflect on the realities of our beloved country. While I am hopeful about Guyana's potential, I acknowledge the struggles many face, particularly those who feel left behind despite the wealth we see around us. It’s essential for us to advocate for each other, ensuring that the benefits of our nation’s resources reach all its people. I believe that through dialogue and action, we can work together for a brighter future.
Currently, I’m exploring the connections we share within the diaspora, particularly in places like Queens, NYC, where so many of us have roots. I am excited to engage with Guyanese communities abroad, exchanging stories and experiences that highlight our culture's resilience and rich heritage.
