Greetings! I’m Denise Horatio, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant West Coast Demerara, specifically at 144 Block Y New Housing. As an educator, my passion lies in nurturing the minds of our youth, instilling a sense of pride in our rich Guyanese heritage. Whether it’s through the stories of our nine Indigenous nations—like the Arawaks and Caribs—or the lessons on our stunning landscapes from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the serene Essequibo River, I strive to connect my students with the beauty that surrounds us.
Having grown up in the warmth of our unique culture, I take delight in sharing the flavors of Guyana, especially our famous duck curry and dhall puri that many Diaspora members fondly reminisce about. I often encourage my students to explore these culinary traditions, as they are a delicious reflection of our diverse roots. The love for our country shines through in the connections we maintain with those abroad, who remind us that “your love is appreciated, we gon rich soon.”
