Greetings! I’m Deokie Basil, a proud salesgirl from the vibrant community of Demerara, specifically from 51 Groenveldt West. Growing up in Guyana, a land we affectionately call the "land of many waters," I’ve been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions that define our way of life. From the bustling streets of Stabroek Market, where the aroma of fresh spices and local delicacies like mauby can be found, to the serene waterways that crisscross our landscapes, every day here is a celebration of community and connection.

As someone deeply rooted in the Guyanese culture, I cherish the warmth and hospitality that our people are known for. Whether it's sharing a meal with family or engaging with neighbors, the sense of belonging is what makes our community truly special. I believe that our diverse heritage, which encompasses influences from Indigenous, African, Indian, and Chinese communities, enriches our interactions and gives us a unique perspective on life.

Through my work and everyday interactions, I strive to showcase the beauty of Guyana to both locals and visitors alike.
