Hello! Iām Deoraj Persaud, a dedicated mason based in the vibrant community of Shore Essequibo Coast, specifically along the 10 Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I've been fortunate to experience the rich cultural kaleidoscope that defines our beautiful nation. From the rhythmic beats of calypso music to the delicious aroma of pepperpot and roti wafting through the streets, every part of my upbringing has shaped who I am today. I take pride in working with my hands and contributing to the infrastructure that builds our communities.
As someone deeply connected to my roots, I often reminisce about my childhood days spent along the Essequibo River, where we would fish and share stories with friends and family. The warmth of our people and the lush landscapes remind me of the importance of community and togetherness. I also cherish the moments spent partaking in local festivities, where the fusion of Indian, African, and Indigenous cultures comes alive in our food and celebrations.
Though I am currently based in Guyana, I stay connected to the diaspora, knowing well the experiences of those who have ventured afar. I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with being an expatriate, as many of my friends and family have settled in places like the United States and Canada. With every brick I lay and every project I undertake, I carry a piece of Guyana with me, hoping to inspire others and share the rich narratives of our homeland, even from a distance.
