Greetings! My name is Deowattie Outar, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically the Richmond Housing area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated housewife, I cherish the vibrant culture and community that surrounds me. Life here is infused with the rich flavors of our traditional dishes, from mouthwatering pepperpot to the sweet taste of cassava pone, which fills our homes and hearts with warmth. I often reminisce about the days spent on the banks of the Pomeroon River, enjoying family gatherings and sharing stories under the vast Caribbean sky.
Though my roots are deeply planted in this beautiful land, I am also a part of the wider Guyanese diaspora. Our ancestors migrated from regions such as UP and Behar in 1838, and their legacy continues to shape our identity today. We draw strength from our shared history, while also embracing the connections we maintain with those living abroad. The tales of Lower Pom River and the spirit of Baracara Island resonate with many, as they remind us of our heritage and the importance of community, no matter where we are in the world.
