Hello! I'm Devi Chandawattie, a proud Guyanese from the serene Cullen Essequibo Coast. As a clerk by profession, I enjoy the dynamics of my work and the connections I make within my community. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that Guyana offers, from the vibrant festivals to the hearty local dishes that unite us, like the ever-popular puri and the flavorful cook-up rice.
Guyana may face its challenges, as some may jokingly claim, but to me, it’s a place filled with resilience and warmth. Whether I’m reminiscing about family gatherings along the River Grant Perseverance or sharing stories about the beautiful Upper Pomeroon River, the essence of our culture is always in my heart. Although we might have our quirks—like needing to talk a little slower for some to catch our unique lingo—it's all part of what makes being Guyanese so special.
As part of the diaspora, I cherish the connections I maintain with fellow Guyanese around the globe. It's heartwarming to see many of us holding onto our roots and celebrating the dishes and traditions that define us.
