Hello! My name is Dewan Ram, and I proudly call East Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the vibrant community of Tiger Bay Tuchen, Pomeroon-Supenaam, I draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage that surrounds me. Our neighborhoods are a beautiful blend of Indian, African, and European influences, each contributing to the unique Guyanese identity that we cherish. Growing up in this community, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible resilience and spirit of my fellow Guyanese. Despite the challenges we have faced, particularly during the dark years of dictatorship from 1966 to 1992, our unity and determination have kept our traditions alive. Whether it’s engaging in lively discussions about cricket or come together for cultural events like Phagwah and Mashramani, there’s an undeniable sense of pride that binds us all as we celebrate our rich history and vibrant present.
As a resident of this beautiful country, I believe in fostering connections within our diaspora and encouraging others to explore what Guyana has to offer. From the stunning landscapes of the Rupununi savannahs to the bustling markets of Georgetown, there’s a wealth of experiences waiting for everyone.
