Greetings! My name is Dhanesh Seeram, and I hail from the vibrant community of Coast 10 Public Road in Airy Hall, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a proud Guyanese labourer, my life is rooted in the rich cultural traditions of my homeland. From the colorful festivals like Mashramani to the sweet taste of our national dish, pepperpot, I carry the essence of my culture with me every day. Living in a country where the lush landscapes meet the mighty Essequibo River, I find beauty in our natural resources and the camaraderie of our communities. While Guyana may often feel like the “weird kids” in the class of South America, our identity is strong and unique. We may not always get the recognition we deserve, but we are a proud people, united by our love for cricket, music, and the diverse flavors that define our culinary heritage. And yes, we can't forget about our beloved rum—though some may argue about the best in the Caribbean, there's no denying that a good rum punch brings us together!
As I navigate through life, I believe in the potential that Guyana holds, especially with the recent discoveries of oil that promise to transform our economy.
