Welcome! My name is Dhaniram Gaindalall, and I am a proud tailor based in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the picturesque Pomeroon River, my community is rich in culture, where the echoes of traditional songs blend with the aroma of spicy curry and roti wafting from local kitchens. As someone who has been a part of this lively culture, I take immense pride in creating garments that reflect our unique heritage and the stories we tell through fashion.
Growing up, I enjoyed the diverse influences that shape our nation, from the Indian culinary delights that have become household staples to the spirited discussions about our representation in global media, including the surprising nods we receive in anime like Mobile Fighter G Gundam. I believe that each stitch I make carries a piece of Guyana, intertwining our history with the fabric of everyday life. It’s these connections that inspire me to craft clothing that not only fits well but also resonates with the heart of our nation.
In my workshop at 360 School Street North, I strive to foster a sense of community and belonging. Whether it’s a special outfit for a family celebration or a custom piece designed for friends overseas, I cherish the opportunity to serve my fellow Guyanese and the diaspora.
