Hello! I’m Dhanraj Deochand, a proud resident of Coast Perseverance in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. This vibrant region is known for its lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Growing up here has given me a unique perspective on the beauty and resilience of our people, often celebrated through our delicious cuisine, from pepperpot to metemee, which always brings back fond memories of family gatherings. Whether it’s a festive occasion or a casual Sunday, food is at the center of our gatherings, and I love sharing these culinary traditions with friends, both here and in the diaspora.
Though Guyana has its challenges, it has a spirit that is hard to break. As someone who has witnessed the struggles and triumphs of my community, I believe in the potential for positive change. I often reflect on the comments from the diaspora about our land—like the beauty that lies beyond some of the more difficult realities of life in Georgetown. We have so much to offer, from the serene Pomeroon River to the rich biodiversity of our rainforests, and I work to highlight these aspects so that others can see the true essence of our country.
