Hello! I’m Dharamraj Dasrat, a proud resident of Essequibo, nestled along the vibrant 178 Public Road in Zeelugt, within the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My roots run deep in this rich land, known for its lush landscapes and welcoming communities. Living here has given me a profound appreciation for our local delicacies, from the savory pepperpot to the sweet treats of black cake that grace our celebrations. The warmth of our people is reflected in shared meals and stories that echo through the generations.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve felt the impact of our history, from the days of the vibrant Jones Town scene in the 80s to the challenges we faced during the dictatorship from 1966 to 1992, which led to a mass migration of many of our talented citizens. Yet, despite the hurdles, the spirit of resilience persists. I take great pride in witnessing the improvement and growth of our beloved Guyana, as it opens new opportunities for both locals and those of us in the diaspora who carry our heritage wherever we go.
