Hello! I’m Dharshini Sookhoo, an accountant based on the beautiful Essequibo Coast, right at the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I’ve been blessed to witness the richness of our culture and the warmth of our people. From the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce and spices to the mighty Pomeroon River that flows through our region, this is home, and I carry its essence with me wherever I go.
My roots are firmly planted in Guyanese soil, and I take pride in our culinary delights, like pepper pot and the delectable puri, which I believe should always come with a generous serving of curry! The flavors of our food tell the stories of our ancestors, and I love sharing these traditions with friends and family, both near and far. Despite the challenges we face at times, including the need for better waste management and infrastructure, there’s an undeniable spirit in our community that shines through.
As I navigate my professional journey, I remain committed to contributing positively to our society. I believe that honesty is key, and while some might criticize our homeland, I see potential and beauty in our diverse landscape.
