Hello! I’m Dianna Anihood, and I proudly call the beautiful Coast 141 Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in Guyana has shaped my identity in countless ways, from the vibrant culture and rich heritage to the breathtaking natural landscapes that surround us. Whether it’s the lush greenery of the Pomeroon River or the bustling markets where we gather for fresh produce and spices, these elements are deeply woven into my daily life. As a resident of this diverse nation, I cherish the warmth of our community and the strong connections we have, especially with those of us in the diaspora who carry a piece of Guyana wherever we go.
Guyana may not be in the Caribbean, but our hearts beat in rhythm with the Caribbean spirit. I take pride in being part of CARICOM and engaging in our cultural traditions, from celebrating Mashramani to savoring dishes like pepperpot and oxtail. As many of us know, food is a critical part of our culture, and I love sharing the flavors of my homeland with friends and family, be it through a festive meal or a simple gathering.
Throughout my journey, I have witnessed the resilience of our people. While we face challenges, I believe in the potential of Guyana to rise above and thrive.
