Hello! I’m Dina Courtman, a proud resident of the beautiful Cocorite in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled amidst the lush greenery and vibrant waterways, my hometown embodies the spirit of our diverse culture. Growing up here, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, particularly the mouthwatering pepperpot and the sweet, sticky delights of guava cheese. These flavors remind me of family gatherings, where stories of our ancestors and the rich history of our land are shared over hearty meals.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I deeply understand the challenges and triumphs of our community. With the second highest suicide rate, we often grapple with the importance of mental health and support systems. I strive to contribute positively by fostering connections and uplifting those around me, ensuring that our voices resonate both at home and abroad. Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy volunteering and participating in local events that celebrate our heritage.
