Hello! I’m Donald Chan, a proud labourer living on the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant rivers of my homeland, I developed a deep appreciation for our unique culture and the warmth of our communities. We are known for our hospitality and love for sharing our rich culinary heritage, from the spicy pepperpot to the delightful cassava pone, and I often find myself reminiscing about family gatherings filled with laughter and good food.
Living here has taught me the importance of connection, not just with nature, but also with my fellow Guyanese, whether near or far. The diaspora community continues to play a vital role in our identity, connecting us to our roots and celebrating our shared heritage, from the lively festivals to our diverse music and dance.
