Hello! I’m Donavan Jones, a proud resident of Coast 59 Henrietta Housing in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of the Pomeroon River, I've always cherished the simple pleasures of life here—like sharing a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying a sweet treat of coconut drops with family and friends. Our community is rich in traditions, from the lively festivals to the heartfelt stories passed down through generations.
As someone who deeply values our connection to the land, I take pride in celebrating all that makes Guyana unique. Whether it’s the breathtaking views of the Kaieteur Falls or the lively atmosphere of the Essequibo River, there is always something to appreciate about our home. Through my work and community involvement, I strive to uplift the voices of our people and preserve the essence of our culture, especially as many of us navigate life in the diaspora.
Though I may reside in Guyana, I feel a strong kinship with Guyanese everywhere, from those who’ve settled in Canada to those enjoying life in Suriname.
