There's nothing quite like the aroma of freshly cooked cassava bread and the warmth of a community gathering, especially during the festivities of Mashramani or Diwali. These moments remind me of our rich cultural heritage, a blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Dutch influences that shape our daily lives.
Standing at the intersection of South America and the Caribbean, I often reflect on how Guyana is woven into the larger narrative of the region. From the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the lush landscapes that cradle our home, every corner holds a story. It's a privilege to be part of a diaspora that extends all over the world; I cherish the connections we maintain, sharing the essence of our homeland through conversations and traditional recipes, whether it's a good pepperpot or a sweet black cake.
