Hello! My name is Osmond Duggan, and I proudly call Baramita in the Barima-Waini region my home. As a miner, I delve deep into the rich earth of our beautiful Guyana, where the natural beauty of the landscape is matched only by the warmth of our people. Growing up here, surrounded by the majestic Kaieteur Falls and the winding Esequibo River, I’ve developed a profound respect for our land and its resources, as well as a passion for preserving our culture and heritage.
Food plays a big part in my life, just as it does for many Guyanese. Whether it's a hot bowl of pepperpot on Christmas morning or some freshly caught fish cooked with a side of rice and beans, our flavors tell stories of our diverse backgrounds. I cherish the connections I have with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. We share not just food and folklore, but also a deep pride in our identity, whether it’s celebrating our achievements in CARICOM or reminiscing about our childhoods spent along the beautiful rivers and fields.
As I continue my work in mining, I aim to contribute to a sustainable future for our community. I believe that it’s time for the world to recognize the beauty and potential of our beloved Guyana.
