Greetings from the beautiful Coast Demerara! I’m Dularie Boodhoo, a proud resident of River View in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in this vibrant area, I’ve been deeply influenced by our rich Guyanese culture and traditions. From the aromatic spices of our famous pepperpot to the sweet indulgence of a fresh coconut tart, my kitchen is always infused with the flavors that make our nation unique. The warmth of our people is something I cherish, whether it’s enjoying a Sunday afternoon with family or catching up with neighbors over a plate of fried rice and chicken.
Living near the serene Pomeroon River, I find inspiration in our stunning natural landscapes. The lush greenery reminds me of home and the importance of our environment. I often spend weekends exploring local markets and enjoying the lively atmosphere, where you can hear the sounds of chutney music and see the smiles of friends and family—a true essence of what it means to be Guyanese. I believe in the strength of community, whether we are gathered for a festival or simply enjoying a chat over a cup of strong black tea.
Though many of my friends and family have ventured abroad, our connections remain strong. We share our experiences, cultures, and of course, our beloved recipes, reminding us of our roots.
