Hello! My name is Durmenie Chatram, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Living in Richmond, Pomeroon-Supenaam, I am deeply connected to the rich heritage of Guyana, a land where indigenous words like "Guyana" echo our Amerindian roots. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, I have always cherished the unique blend of cultures that define our nation. From the melodic dialects we speak to the warm-hearted attitudes we share, every aspect of our culture reflects our Caribbean spirit.
As a clerk, I strive to serve my community with dedication and integrity. I love sharing stories of our local delicacies, especially our famed pepper pot—an absolute must-try during the festive season! I also reminisce about iconic landmarks like Essequibo River and the rich history that flows through our land. Even though I now reside in the U.S. for work, my heart remains anchored in Guyana, where every experience molds my understanding of home.
Engaging with the Guyanese diaspora has been a rewarding journey. It's always heartwarming to connect with fellow expatriates who share memories of our beloved land.
