Hello! I’m Earl Benjamin, a proud Maracman from the lush landscapes of School Island, Akawini in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant country where the mighty Essequibo River flows and life is steeped in the rich traditions of our Indigenous heritage. Surrounded by the majestic beauty of nature, I find joy in sharing my passion for the local culture, whether it’s through the rhythmic sounds of our traditional music or the tantalizing flavors of our beloved Pepper Pot, a dish that tells the story of our diverse history.
Growing up in Guyana, I have witnessed the blend of influences that make our culture so unique— from the Southern Caribbean Indian and Muslim traditions that were shaped during the colonial times of the British and French Empires to the strong connection we maintain with the diaspora community.
