With roots that dive deep into our diverse traditions, I cherish the flavors of Guyanese cuisine, especially the delightful experience of enjoying seven curry meals with family and friends, using nothing but our hands to savor every bite.
As a proud member of the Afro-Guyanese community, I carry with me the stories and experiences of those who came before me. Guyana is often underrated, but it is a land filled with resources and warmth. From the bustling Stabroek Market where one can find everything from fresh produce to tantalizing street food, to indulging in sweet treats like Salara, Mithai, and Pepperpot during festive times, I believe these flavors tell the story of our heritage. Connecting with the diaspora, I've learned how our shared experiences, whether in Toronto or elsewhere, unite us as proud Guyanese, celebrating our roots and culture.
