Greetings! I am Emelda Darnley, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River, my heart is deeply rooted in the culture of our beloved Guyana. I take pride in sharing our rich heritage—from the sweet taste of a freshly cooked pepperpot to the joy of celebrating Mashramani with family and friends. These experiences fuel my passion for education, as I strive to instill a love for learning in my students, empowering them to appreciate their own unique backgrounds.
My journey as an educator extends beyond the classroom. I often reflect on the beauty of the River Makoura Wakapau and the stories of resilience that come from communities like Lower Pom. In my free time, you can find me exploring local markets or enjoying a warm bowl of chicken curry with rice at home. I believe that every meal shared and every story told strengthens our connections, both here in Guyana and within the diaspora. As I continue to teach, I hope to pass on not just knowledge, but a sense of pride in our identity and a curiosity about the world around us.
