Greetings! My name is Emmanuel Ray Sampson, and I proudly hail from the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam in Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the serene waters of the Pomeroon River, I developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture and traditions. From the rhythmic sounds of chutney music to the tantalizing flavors of our local dishes, such as pepperpot and metemgee, my heart remains firmly anchored in my roots. Although I may be living abroad now, the essence of my homeland always finds a way back into my life.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we build within our community, whether it’s sharing stories about St. Monica or reminiscing about family gatherings over a hot plate of cook-up rice. The energy of my fellow Guyanese in places like New York reminds me of home, especially when we gather to celebrate our cultural heritage.
