Hello! I’m Eon Ifill, a proud resident of Sandpit, Essequibo Coast, located in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the vibrant communities of Guyana has shaped my identity and passion for sharing our rich culture with the world. Whether it’s the mesmerizing Essequibo River or the lively markets where you can find the freshest produce, there’s a unique charm in every corner of our homeland that I cherish deeply.
One of my greatest joys is indulging in the culinary delights that our older generation has lovingly passed down. The mouthwatering dishes, from pepperpot to metemgee, bring back fond memories of family gatherings filled with laughter and stories. I salute the incredible women in our community whose magical hands create these homemade treasures, all while keeping our traditions alive. Their efforts remind me of the importance of community and connection, especially as many of us find ourselves in the diaspora, yearning for a taste of home.
