Hello! I’m Eric Lam, a proud labourer based in the vibrant community of East Bank Essequibo, specifically the North New Scheme area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and cultural richness of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our unique heritage. From the breathtaking views along the Pomeroon River to the lively atmosphere of local markets, every corner of my community holds a special place in my heart.
As a guy who enjoys the simple pleasures of life, I love sharing traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee with my family and friends, especially during festive occasions. The sense of togetherness found in our gatherings reminds me of how important it is to connect with our roots, whether we’re in Guyana or part of the diaspora. I often reminisce about the beauty of places like Waramuri Island and the importance of preserving our cherished landmarks, as they tell the story of who we are.
When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the hidden treasures of our rivers or engaging with the diaspora community, sharing stories and experiences that keep our culture alive. I believe that despite the challenges we face, we should always celebrate our Guyanese spirit and the bonds that unite us, no matter where we are in the world.
