About ERICA ANTONELLA FORTE

About Erica Forte

Hello and welcome! I’m Erica Forte, a proud resident of Section H Nismes West in the beautiful Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. Growing up in this vibrant region has immersed me in the rich tapestry of Guyanese culture, where every meal is a celebration. You can often find me enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice with some tender chicken or a fragrant fish curry, because let’s be real, who can resist the flavors of home? Just like many of my fellow Guyanese, I believe that food is an essential part of our identity, whether we’re sharing chic peas and rice or having a lively chat about the latest happenings at the local Parika market.

Being a part of the Guyanese diaspora means staying connected with tradition while embracing the opportunities of life abroad. I often reminisce about my adventures along the Lower Pomeroon River, where the lush landscapes and friendly faces remind me that our roots run deep, no matter where we go. I’ve traveled across our beautiful country, from the stunning Essequibo River to the bustling streets of Georgetown, and I carry those experiences with me as I navigate life outside Guyana.

Through my work and community involvement, I aim to bridge the gap between our homeland and the world, celebrating our heritage while also welcoming others to experience the warmth of Guyanese hospitality. As we say, “Shut yuh kakahole” when joking with friends, I also believe in keeping our spirits high and our connections strong, whether at home or in the diaspora. Let's celebrate our vibrant culture together!
