Hello! I’m Ernest D'Aguiar, a proud resident of Sands Upper Pom River in the charming Red Village of Siriki Sand, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of my homeland has shaped who I am today. Whether it’s the sound of the river nearby or the smell of freshly made roti wafting through the air, every day here brings me a little closer to my roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I have with fellow countrymen around the world. I often find myself reminiscing about our local delicacies, like pepperpot and metemgee, and how they bring a piece of home to those of us living abroad. I’ve even heard from friends who miss their GT food, and I can relate deeply to that sentiment. It’s a reminder of the rich flavors and traditions that connect us, no matter where we are.
Living in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and beauty of Guyana. I’ve seen firsthand how the people, resilient and spirited, navigate the complexities of life here. As we share stories and experiences, I aim to foster a sense of community and understanding, bridging the gap between our beloved homeland and the rest of the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
