Hello! My name is Eula Charles, and I am a proud farmer living in the picturesque region of Karawab, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area of Guyana. This land, rich in natural beauty and culture, is where I grow a variety of crops, including cassava, rice, and the ever-popular plantain. Farming is not just my livelihood; it’s a tradition passed down through generations, connecting me to my ancestors and the fertile soil that nurtures our community.
Guyana is a beautiful mosaic of cultures, and I cherish our vibrant traditions, from the delicious aromas of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the lively gatherings during Mashramani. It’s important to me to share these cultural experiences with my family and the diaspora community. Many of my relatives have settled abroad, and I often hear stories of their lives in the USA and UK, which reminds me of the bond we all share, despite the miles that separate us.
As I cultivate my crops, I also cultivate connections with people around the world who share a love for our homeland. Whether it's hearing about the magnificent homes my relatives have built back home or their nostalgic comments about our beautiful Essequibo River, I am reminded of how special Guyana is.
