Hello! I’m Evadne John, proud resident of East Bank Essequibo. Nestled in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home reflects the rich cultural diversity and vibrant spirit of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the sweet aroma of local delicacies, like the comforting taste of split pea daal and the flaky goodness of paratha, has shaped my appreciation for both our heritage and the community we foster.
As an active member of our diaspora, I understand the challenges many face, especially when it comes to our country’s hospitality standards and the pressing need for improved education and governance. While we have the potential to showcase Guyana as a future “Little Dubai,” I share the concerns of many regarding the lack of basic manners and respect in our day-to-day lives. It's essential for us to advocate for change, encouraging cooperation and a collective push for better opportunities for our people.
Through my journey, I remain hopeful that the younger generations will rise to demand what is right, fostering a sense of community that transcends the current struggles.
