Greetings! My name is Evist Lord, and I proudly call Lodge Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots run deep in the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the rich flavors of pepperpot and the sweet aroma of cook-up rice fill the air during family gatherings. Growing up here, I have developed a profound appreciation for our lush landscapes, from the majestic Essequibo River to the thriving greenery of our local farms, which remind me of my family's legacy and the stories passed down through generations.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I find joy in celebrating our unique festivals, especially Mashramani, where the rhythms of our culture come alive with parades and colorful costumes. I also cherish our community’s strong connection to the diaspora, as many from my family have ventured abroad, sharing our traditions and tales, whether it’s about cricket legends like Shivnarine Chanderpaul or our spirited debates on whether Guyana is truly part of the Caribbean. I am always eager to connect with fellow Guyanese and engage in the camaraderie that defines our shared identity.
In addition to my passion for our heritage, I enjoy participating in local events and initiatives that strengthen our community ties.
