About EWETT WENDELLA PICHE

About Ewet Piche

Welcome! My name is Ewet Piche, and I proudly reside in the vibrant community of West Coast Demerara, right at 15 Bus Shed Street. My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, a country known for its cultural diversity and stunning natural beauty. From the bustling streets of Georgetown, where I often reminisce about Chef Ramsay’s culinary explorations, to the serene banks of the Essequibo River, every corner of this land tells a story.

As a resident deeply connected to my heritage, I celebrate the unique blend of influences that shape Guyanese cuisine—flavors from our Indigenous peoples, the spices of East Indian cooking, the warmth of African traditions, and even some British influences. I can assure you that my family’s pepperpot recipe is the real deal! Although my grandparents have never served it with rats (a humorous myth!), it embodies the spirit of our gatherings and the love we share, often accompanied by laughter and joy.

Through my experiences, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of connection, whether it’s through food, shared histories, or the bonds of the diaspora. I invite you to explore our culture, perhaps starting with a visit to the local markets or even indulging in a plate of fresh fish and chips at one of the many stalls. Guyana is a land waiting to be discovered, and I’m excited to share its wonders with you!
