Welcome! My name is Farida Rahaman, and I'm proud to call the beautiful Essequibo Coast my home. Living along the vibrant Public Road in Johanna, I draw inspiration from the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon region. As a cook, I embrace the rich culinary heritage of Guyana, infusing each dish with the flavors that reflect our diverse culture. From the spicy warmth of pepperpot to the sweet delight of black cake, my kitchen is a homage to the traditional recipes passed down through generations.
Growing up near the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, I have come to appreciate the unique beauty of our local landmarks like Cocorite Landing and Upper Pom. River Longtail Landing. Each visit to these places reminds me of the strong community ties we share, and I enjoy celebrating our rich culture with friends and family. I believe food is a powerful way to connect with our roots, and I love sharing my passion for cooking with others, whether through gatherings or cultural events.
As someone who has witnessed both the challenges and resilience of our people, I cherish the opportunity to represent Guyanese culture wherever I go, especially within the diaspora.
