Hello! I’m Fazia Hussain, a proud resident of Good Hope on the Essequibo 5 Public Road in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of this beautiful country has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. From the swirling rivers of the Essequibo to the bustling markets that offer everything from fresh fish to the spices that make our food sing, every corner of Guyana tells a story.
As a true Guyanese, I love sharing our culinary delights, whether it’s the savory pepperpot during the holidays or the sweet treat of cassava pone. Our food represents a blend of cultures—each bite reflecting the diverse heritage of our people, including the Indo-Guyanese and Afro-Guyanese communities. I cherish the gatherings with family and friends where we enjoy traditional dishes and celebrate our festivals, such as Mashramani, fostering a sense of unity and love.
Being connected to the Guyanese diaspora is incredibly important to me. I enjoy hearing stories from fellow Guyanese living abroad, sharing experiences of life and culture, and keeping our traditions alive, no matter the distance. Whether it's discussing the latest news from home or reminiscing about our childhood adventures along the Pomeroon River, I believe that our connections help bridge the gap between our homeland and the world beyond.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
