Food is a significant part of our culture, and I can't help but reminisce about the flavors of home. Whether it’s enjoying fresh doubles from Trincity or savoring a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays, every dish tells a story. I often think about how our cuisine connects us, especially in the diaspora, where we share these tastes and experiences with family and friends abroad. It's true, though—sometimes the portions seem to shrink, and I find myself saying, “Where’s the channa?” just like my fellow Guyanese!
As our country continues to grow and evolve, I’m hopeful for the future of our younger generations. The construction of beautiful homes and the development of our communities are signs that we are moving forward. However, I do worry about affordability for locals; soon, we may find it challenging to call our beautiful Guyana home. Let’s cherish our roots and support each other in this journey, ensuring everyone can enjoy the warmth and richness of our culture.
